Artists In Italy tour created many, many memories to bring home. Walking through Il Parterre in Cortona, I came upon this pastoral scene and vividly recall painting this particular view in water-soluble oils while perched on the quiet hillside overlooking Cortona. After a morning of painting and since I had the painting taped onto a light Gator board that I strung and slung over my shoulder to make it easier to carry, I hadn’t noticed the wrong side was facing me as I was walking back through the gardens. While walking the wet paint had smeared by rubbing against my leg, but surprisingly enough it appear more impressionistic. I liked it even better. This painting won an honours award at the Brush and Palette Art Show in 2019.
