It was an early March day visiting the Tuckey Sugar Bush outside of Exeter. Wayne and Bill loved the sugar bush and Bill marveled only a few weeks earlier there was still snow but now the dried leaves lay bare on the ground. The weather felt more like a warm autumn day. With so many interesting photo shots, this painting is a compilation of four photos – the sap buckets on the tree, the dog, Wayne and Bill holding the sap pail. Later Bill asked if I would do a painting of him and his brother Wayne in the sugar bush. This is the painting.
