David's Focus SOLD

The painting, David’s Focus, started on a painting trip in Italy. A group of artists from our area travelled to Italy to paint the vistas around Cortona and Venice. Two beautiful weeks with the most beautiful weather you could ever experience. After returning home we all met and displayed our paintings, showing them at a gallery in a lakeside town near us where David & Mary Louise had a store. David and Mary Louise were in our group, Mary Louise the artist, David the photographers. Having taken several photos of David while he was photographing scene around Cortona, a few of them turned out very well.

It was on my mind for a while to do a painting of David. Then I found out David was sick, learning he had ALS and was failing fast.

So I took a watercolour paper from the shelf and started to sketch, praying to God to let me finish the painting on time. After having it framed, I delivered it to them at their home. Thank you God, I finished the painting on time. After David’s untimely passing, I knew this painting would mean a lot to his wife Mary Louise and wanted to include her in the painting somehow. So I painted her image on the lens of the camera and called the painting David’s Focus.
