At my 100 year old house along the Thames River west of Chatham, an old flowering crab tree stood outside my art room window. I love hanging out laundry but had no clotheslines. I rigged up a cotton rope tying it from the house to a branch nub on the crab apple tree which made a perfect setting for a painting with the green backdrop of my back yard and the flagstone walkway lined with hostas. How pretty.
Over a few years I had built the walkway, one flagstone at a time, around the house, from the front steps around to the wooden patio at the back. A labour of love that certainly kept me in shape.
