Winter was the theme of this painting lesson at Hilda’s where she guided me in avoiding pitfalls many artists encounter when painting snow. Let the water do the work & use clean water.
- start with a sketch
- using a limited palette – indigo, Winsor blue, cerulean blue, burnt sienna:
- paint distant trees into wet.
- paint around the edge or use a resist for snow edge.
- using very clean water tickle one side of the edge and while wet, drop in a hint of burnt sienna.
- knitting needle to incise trees.
