Innocence Dorothy dhunter Adams

This portrait study was one of the first watercolour portraits I tried. Having never painted a portrait in watercolour before, I wanted to see if I could replicate the soft subtle colours in the child’s face. The picture was in an old magazine and the softness of the image is what attracted me.

Since teaching myself watercolour - no instruction from books or an instructor, I learned many things incorrectly and especially with children; too much detail ages them. Too much detail ages anyone.
