Thunder Skies is a favourite painting of mine, recalling the thunderstorms we bravely watched with Dad in anticipation for the lightning to flash and the booming thunder that followed - both at the cottage as well as at home. It was a mesmerizing watch as the storm moved across the lake, and the swiftness in which it came.
The clouds in this painting are from a photo I took of the sky as we were leaving the Grey Rose Restaurant in Hanover just hours before a big storm with high winds struck in Grey County. After having the photos developed (before my digital camera), I noticed a shadow of a face in the clouds.
